NEWBURGH, N.Y. (December 5, 2006) - In January, the City of Newburgh and master developer LeylandAlliance LLC will conduct a planning charrette about the redevelopment of 30 acres of city-owned waterfront lands. A series of presentations and open studios will be held to provide an opportunity for the public to share their thoughts and ideas with the Waterfront Development team.

On Wednesday, Dec. 13 at 7:30 p.m. an informal pre-charrette planning discussion will be held in the Board of Education auditorium, 124 Grand Street. The public is invited to join City boards and commissions and community organizations to meet LeylandAlliance representatives working on the waterfront development project, learn more about the upcoming charrette process, and suggest ways to work together to get the word out to the community.

City of Newburgh Mayor Nicholas Valentine said, "We are turning a crucial page in our City's history by taking a huge step forward in a renaissance which is already well underway. But, in order for the process to be successful, we must have input from the community. The waterfront development will impact generations to come and we want to be sure that the end result reflects what our residents would like now and in the future."
